“Hoo-Hoo” Why the Owl?

by | Jan 5, 2020 | Welcome | 0 comments

You might wonder why I chose an owl to be part of my logo, identity, and brand. It’s very personal to me—my late Mother or “Mum”, as I called her (the native Pittsburgher in me!) collected owls. Her love started with a family of owls that lived in a tree just outside my childhood home. She’d watch them perched in the pine tree just outside the house and referred to them as her “pets”. My mother also had an extensive collection of many things relating to owls.

So when it came time to update my logo for JMedia, I knew I wanted to incorporate an owl. I called on Christine Stevens, a dear friend, colleague, (and graphic designer extraordinaire), for the perfect logo.

In Greek mythology, the Owl of the Athena represents the goddess of wisdom. And has been used as a symbol of knowledge, wisdom, perspicacity, and erudition. These words correlate with my ability to apply my knowledge in marketing to your business. In addition, it also enforces that digital & social marketing change rapidly, and I’m committed to keeping up with industry trends.

JMedia’s goal is to help professionals focus on what they do best in their business, leaving us to focus on what we do best! By trusting JMedia with your marketing, you’ll have more time to do the things you love and enjoy in your business.

And I guess I should also mention that my favorite candy as a kid was the Tootsie Roll—and I was recently reminded of Mr. Owl! …and how many licks it takes to get through a Tootsie Pop!
